The XMC (VITA 42) daughter card format was developed by VITA and essentially adds high-speed serial (SerDes) connectors to the legacy PMC format. XMC is widely used for processing and I/O expansion on VME, VPX, and cPCI systems, especially on single-board computers (SBCs). The boards can be air- and/or conduction-cooled. They provide a great opportunity for adding FPGAs to older/existing systems.
The FMC (VITA 57) standard was originally designed for FPGA I/O customization, but is now being used for processing and memory expansion. It can be used on VME, VPX, cPCI, and AMC boards and is designed in air- and conduction-cooled variants. The boards provide sophisticated power supply support.
The PMC+ standard is an extension of the standard PMC specification providing tightly coupled I/O and processing for BittWare's processing boards.
