 Meteorological mapping enables the tracking of temperature, precipitation, and wind speed, among other variables. These types of systems require an immense amount of digital signal processing power which can be difficult to integrate efficiently.
This particular system also initially had air flow challenges
that had to be addressed. The first generation system had a total of 90 TS101 DSPs and incorporated efficient system cooling within the chassis. The next generation upgraded to 90 TS201 DSPs
per system.
The final signal processing system provide by BittWare included:
- Nine octal ADSP TS201 TigerSHARC 6U cPCI boards
- Eighteen quad ADSP TS201 TigerSHARC PMC boards
